Us concerned about critical shortages of essential supplies in Nepal
The United States has expressed concerns about critical shortages of essential supplies as a result of volatility along the Nepal-India border and a potential humanitarian crisis. "The United States is deep-ly concerned by the increasingly volatile situation along the Nepal-India border, result-ing in critical shortages of fuel, medicine, and foodstuffs, including in areas still reeling from the devastating earth-quakes of April and May," a US embassy statement said on Thursday. With winter approaching fast, the US expressed concerns over the inability of the international donor community "to deliver vital relief and shelter supplies to many vulnerable communities." The United States called on everyone involved to make extra efforts to address the crisis. "Lives are at stake, and we are concerned that a humanitarian crisis may result. The United States calls on all those involved to redouble their efforts to resolve this crisis," the statement said. The US embassy reiterated its readiness to assist the people and government of Nepal.
