Nepal's parliament elects Bidhya Devi Bhandari as nation's first female president
Nepal has its first ever female president, after the country's parliament elected Bidhya Bhandari to the position on Wednesday. Bhandari, now 54, replaces Ram Baran Yadav, who was appointed as Nepal's first head of state, after the country became a federal democratic republic in 2008, ending a 240-year monarchy.
