One of Japan’s largest railway companies has now banned selfie sticks from 1,195 of its stations.The West Japan Railway Company explained that due to overhead wiring people using selfie sticks near the wires could be electrocuted, even if they don’t make direct contact.
Local authorities have placed a ban on the use of selfie sticks at 1,195 train stations in the area of the country, with the law having come into effect this past weekend (September 19th).
As of this weekend, there are 1,195 places where you’ll see plenty of travelers but not a single selfie stick: the train stations of western Japan, which have prohibited their use.
