Under the My Number system, local governments has planned to assign every resident in Japan a number by October that will be used for both taxation and social security management.
To simplify the process of My Number individual identification number system, the government will allow employees to apply for their ID number cards at their workplaces rather than in the offices of the municipalities where they live, as was initially to be required.
In this process, employees who want to apply for the My Number ID card, applicant don`t need to go to municipal government offices, and as a result, companies and municipalities will have to deal with less paperwork. In October, each household will begin to receive by post a notification letter containing its members’ ID numbers and application forms for an ID number card.
Under the My Number system, a 12-digit ID number will be given to each individual residing in Japan.
