A woman was killed and four other persons were seriously injured after a car hit them on the sidewalk and then plowed into a clothing store in front of JR Ikebukuro Station in Tokyo on Sunday night.
Police have stated that the car struck pedestrians before crashing into the ZARA clothing store in the busy shopping area of Ikebukuro. According to the Metropolitan Police Department, they have arrested the driver of the car, Shoichiro Kaneko, 53, on a charge of negligent driving resulting in death and injury of the pedestrians.
Five men and women pedestrians ranging in age from their 20`s to 70`s were injured. One of the five victim, Toshiko Ebata, 41, suffered a severe cranial fracture and died in hospital early Monday morning, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
