3 killed in light plane crash into Tokyo homes

A light plane crashed into a residential area in the Tokyo suburb of Chofu on Sunday morning, leaving three people dead and five others injured.
The crash occurred around 11 a.m., setting fire to five houses and two cars in addition to the plane itself with five people aboard, police and fire department officials said.
Those killed in the crash were the plane's male pilot, another man sitting in its front seat and one female resident in a hit house, the Metropolitan Police Department said.

Those injured were three other male plane passengers, who were apparently in the rear seats, and two female residents, the MPD said. One firefighter was also injured.

Shortly after taking off from Chofu airport, the plane touched the roof of a house 300 meters away and crashed into another house nearby, police officials said.
